Andrew Kerr, a native of Plymouth, England, graduated from the London School of Economics with a degree in Government and Politics.

He and his wife Stephanie and their two childeren are residents of Olympia, WA - Stephanie is a former America’s cup sailor who sailed in the 1995 Americas Cup on the woman’s team aboard America 3 & Mighty Mary .

Andrew is a full time coach & seminar speaker for both Kerrsailing and North U and a writer of many coaching articles for Sailing World and numerous one design classes and publications; he has coached teams and conducted seminars all over the world since 1983 as well as being a head coach and instructor trainer at a variety of top sailing schools – the Boston Sailing Center, the Offshore Sailing School, J World San Diego, J World Newport, J World Key West & J World Annapolis.

He loves coaching and helping teams and individuals accomplish there goals – teams he has coached have won the J80 North American’s, J80 Midwinter’s, J27 Midwinter’s, Mumm 30 North American’s, Key West Race Week, the SORC, J120 Great Lakes Championships, J105 Presidents Trophy, J35 Great Lakes Championships, J24 Pacific NW Championships, J24 Western Regional Championships, J24 San Francisco Fleet Championships, LMSRF Boat of the Year, Harbor Springs Boat of the Regatta, The Verve Cup, Milwaukee Grand Prix, Block Island Race Week, American YC Spring and Fall Series, the Sail Newport Regatta & the Chicago to Mackinac and Bay View to Mackinac races .

Teams have also placed 2nd in the S27.9 North American Championships and 3rd in the J105 North American Championships.

Some of his accomplishments include winning the J24 Nationals 6 times, the J24 North American’s, the J27 North American’s, US Sailing’s Offshore National Championships, the Santana 20 Nationals 5 times, the Holder 20 Nationals and numerous regatta wins at the SORC , Key West Race Week & Block Island Race Week.

He has placed 2nd through 5th overall a total of 31 times in the National or North American Championships of 9 different one design classes as well as finishing 3rd, 4th and 5th at the J24 World Championships and 5th at the J22 World Championships.

He is a member of the Southwestern Yacht Club in San Diego where he was one design sailor of the year in 2000 and coach of the club’s Lipton Cup team.
